My Departure to Jakarta, Happy Ending in Korea.

I'm at the Ngurah Rai Bali airport now, enjoying my cup of coffee and holding myself not to yell to Lion Air bcos my flight got delayed for two hours. I'm flying back to Jakarta for a bit to deal with my paper works and guess what. Pickle and Onion are bringing this blog to Korea!

Yeah you read it right. Me and Aaron will travel to Korea to see our friend Lance. We will make a stop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for a couple of days before Korea. From Kuala Lumpur, we will fly to Seoul and take a train, or bus, or whatever it will be to Daejon, South Korea, where Lance lives.

Now, what I gotta do when I land my feet in Jakarta is.. wait for my brother to scoop me up and take me home and go to bed.. Doh. After that, I'll deal with all the paper works and get it done and wait for Aaron to come to Jakarta on 27th of September and fly our asses to Malaysia. He got the Jakarta ticket already. We are one step closer to Korea. New place, new adventure, same old stupid bitches (thats us).

Get ready for us, Korea!

Time goes by fast; miss my brother and my dad...

Wish my brother and dad were still here. Had some of the funnest times and memories with them.

Gilimanuk Culture Trip

Ibu (lady) - our landlord, asked us if we want to join them for a trip to Gilimanuk. There will be a ceremony there, she said. We went on hours and hours of bus ride with a group of Balinese people to the first and second oldest temple in Bali. To honor the culture and religion, we wear traditional Balinese costume. The road trip was exhausting but fun at the same time. This time it's not just me and Aaron. We have a friend coming over from California and she'll stay here in Bali for one month with us. Meet Jessica Brodeen, everyone.

Me and Jess in front of the house before we left to pick up point

Bus ride! - Aaron is looking good with traditional Balinese costume! Ha I can't believe I just said that.

After 3 hours of bus ride, we finally arrived at the first temple of Bali.

Another bus ride to the second oldest temple in Bali. We drove through a forest and we found a very beautiful beach after going 45 minutes through the forest.

What's cookin?

Me, Aaron, and Chris (our housemate) are having a housewarming dinner for our friends tonight. Does these look all yummy dummy to you? Yey? Ney?

 Soto Betawi | Jakarta

Oxtail Soup | Classic Indo Dish

 Rawon | Java

Nasi Gudeg | Yogyakarta

Yes I like soup. I want to cook two of those dishes. I actually want to do Soto Betawi because it's one of my favorite local dish, and it's a signature food from my hometown. Chris told me he probably will cook some pasta, Aaron wants to grill some corns, and Matt wants to buy some durian. Matt is Chris's Australian friend btw. He's staying in one of the rooms in our house for a couple of days. Today is actually his last day in Bali, he'll be back to Lampung (Sumatra) to work.. or something. We will do the dinner on our balcony with our friends and yeah it will definitely be a fun night! Which dish should I do?

------ UPDATE
I just remember, we don't have any stove in our kitchen. Shit.

Will be leaving to Gilimanuk in a couple days. Gonna be taking a bus through the jungle to a temple in Gilimanuk! Gonna be amazing. Have been connecting with a spiritual side of myself that I didnt know was there. Great people out here, Ibu and Bapak at our house are the nicest people ever! Always serve us tea in the morning. Getting really cultured over here, learning Bahasa, and just mellowing out as a person. Hopefully will be picking up a go pro soon. 2.5 million rp. We need some videos on here.

Ubud Woo Hoo!

We went on another road trip and this time we went to Ubud to see monkeys in Monkey Forest. I've been in Bali for 6 months already but I've never been there before. Lame, I know. So yeah we went there and saw these beautiful forest with 600+ grey monkeys inside.

We suppose to pay Rp20.000,- to get inside the forest but somehow when we passed the front gate they didn't ask for any money. Aaron grabbed a banana and put it on his shoulder so the monkeys will climb to him and it was a huge success. You need to watch your purse and things though because these monkeys can be very curious. There was a pond there and we saw 4 monkeys playing with water while taking a bath. It was quite a show! We explore the forest and saw this beautiful bridge, feels like I was in a chinese colosal movie scene lol. No joke.

Then we went to a temple inside the Monkey Forest and chill there for a bit while getting Aaron's Bahasa Indonesia lesson going.. That's until a group of monkeys came towards us and we ran away.

We continue exploring and found a rice field there. Beside the rice field, there was an abandoned tree house. It was suppose to be a tree house cafe but seems like the business shuts down. We went in there to check it out and we wrote "Priska and Aaron was here" on the wall to mark our trip. We looked at the rice field, it was beautiful with the sun shining and giving a superb effect on the rice field. We went through it and found a restaurant called.. Um.. I forget. We spent a couple of hours there drinking bali coffee and banana juice while having one of the most interesting conversation me and Aaron ever had. We make our way back home.. and got a ticket from a police officer cos I ran off a traffic light and that cost me 50k. Damn it!

Onion's Weekend Getaway.

Aaron and a bunch of friends of ours left today for this waterfall AND I GOT LEFT OUT bastards! Lol jk. I let myself got left out because I need to work earlier today. Working on Saturday is so lame. It's called Tegenungan Waterfall in Ubud area. After this waterfall, they are now in Padang Bai beach having a lot of fun while doing some shrooms. Fags! I'm jealous! I'm pretty sure he will write something about the trip here soon after he got back. Boo for the awesome trip bcos I'm not there!

Dream House Fail.

So yeah. Hi.

We had this huge plan of moving to a new house we hope we can call home. We found this house about a week ago when we were looking for a new place to live. At first, the idea was just a tiny little apartment or kost that will fit the both of us, but then on our search, we met these two dudes offering us a house that we can rent. So we checked it out and fell in love with it. It's a beautiful 3 bedroom balinese style house with a beautiful family living in front of the house. And we moved in.. and yeah.. FAIL.

A lot of mosquitoes, which actually I'm not really bothered with it because mosquitoes never like me somehow.. I wonder what did I do wrong to them :(. The toilet flush doesn't really work. Oh um.. correction. Doesn't even work. The sink is leaking and flooding the living room. The bed is dirty. The bathtub is quite nasty. The water goes on and off. Bottom line, it's a perfect dream house anyone would ever want. What bugs me the most is how noisy the animals in the neighborhood can be. A lot of homework to do.

Aaron was picking up hairballs on the bathroom floor, duct taped the window so the mosquitoes cant come in, and spraying the doors with mosquito spray and fogging the room with it, and bitching about it the next day. Hahaha. Too bad I don't have a digital camera with me now so I can't give you the house pic.

I'm going to do a massive cleaning tomorrow and see how it works out! Wish me luck!

I hereby declare that I, Priska, am the pickle.

I’m kind of nervous writing the first blog post, but whatever. At first, Aaron had the idea of naming the blog Ketchup and Mustard, but apparently somebody thought of that first so then we pick Pickles and Onions. Pretty random, I know. However, we were debating on an internet cafe about who should be the pickle and who should be the onion, both of us wants to be the pickle because we thought it would be cool to be a green thing (??).
Anyway, yeah. I’m declaring that I am the pickle from now on (eat that, onion!!). So, yay for the green thing!
This blog, however, is a journal of me and Aaron’s random trips and journey. You probably have some questions in your head now, like, “who the fuck is Priska Djohari or Aaron Tayman”, or maybe like, “Oh yeah I think I’ve heard about them before” or maybe like, “Oh yeah that was my idiot neighbor”. You probably can find the answers below.
Priska Djohari (that’s me) is a 22 years old female Indonesian, originally from Jakarta but moved to Bali around 6 months ago. Aaron Tayman, on the other hand, is a 24 years old male American, originally from California but thinking about moving to Bali around 2 months ago and working his way there. He seems pretty serious about that. How both of us became best friends is pretty simple.. I don’t really remember. Back story on pic above: we were chilling at Cocoon on 66 Beach with a bunch of friends, 5th attempt on good pics and thats the best we can pull. Don’t say anything thanks.
We went on countless random road trips on our motorbike. Driving all the way from Kuta to Mount Batur using shorts and end up almost got freeze to death, exploring new cities, and et cetera. We have no destinations (eh.. sometimes we do actually), all we are looking for is another good epic times, like when Aaron crashed our motorbike (ok that WASN’T good).
This blog post ends right here, and last thing I’m going to say here is… I’M THE PICKLE, TTTTARD!
